The City will also be investigating the use of geopolymer coatings along with Cured-in-Place <br /> pipe (CIPP) as a rehabilitation method due to the diameter of the pipe, no parallel sewer to bypass flow, <br /> the long shutdown periods required by CIPP, and the pipe location in an established neighborhood. <br /> Design work for the McKinley Avenue sewer is to be completed in November and construction will <br /> begin the summer of 2018. As with the Lake Shore Drive Sewer, Union Street Sewer, and 7th Ward <br /> Sewer it is proposed that a low interest loan be secured through the Illinois Environmental Protection <br /> Agency to fund the design and construction costs. <br /> Design Agreement <br /> Staff recommends that council retain the engineering services of Chastain and Associates LLC to <br /> complete the final design of the McKinley Avenue Sewer Rehabilitation project. Chastain and <br /> Associates, LLC is a local firm that has successfully completed many sewer design projects for the City <br /> including the last three major rehabilitation projects.
