The person invoived in the accident has the option af: 1} using the towing contractor; 2} using <br /> the services of any other tawing aperatar; 3) using any ather form of tow service. The City of <br /> Decatur does not guatantee that a minimum number of taws wi3i occur. Bidder should be aware <br /> that the tow service will be used on an "as needed"basis. The only assurance the City of Decatur <br /> makes is#hat if the person involved in ti�e accident does not reqaest a specific tawing service,the <br /> towing contractor will be called by the Police Department. <br /> NOTE: Far all vehicles towed under this contract an itemized fee schedule shall be presented to <br /> the vehicle c�perator prior ta remaval by towing if helshe is available. NO EXCEPTIaNS. <br /> Any service provided by the cantractar shall be listed an a schedu�e of services and fees, ar�d <br /> submitted with this bid and shall remain constant with the terrns and conditions of this bid. <br /> FACILITIES <br /> The contractox shall provide a vehicle storage lot within the corparate jurisdiction of the City <br /> with sufficient space ta accommodate agpraximately 254 vehicles, as approved by the Chief of <br /> Police. Contractor shall not store towed velucles at any location other than the approved starage <br /> faezlity. The Contractor shall pravide security for said approved lot in terms of adequate chain <br /> link fencing, lighting and security personnel on duty to safeguard aIl stored vehicles on a 24 <br /> hours,7 day a week basis. <br /> The Contractor shall pravide storage and disposi#ion of vehicles in campliance with I1linois <br /> Cammerce Cammission regulations, the Illinois Vehicle Code, City of Decatur ordinances and <br /> Decatur Police Department regulations and shall agree to release vehicles upon written <br /> authorization fram the Decatur Palice Department. <br /> The Contractar shall provide two (2) enciosed secure stalis for evidence preservation purposes, <br /> ane of which must be heated and lighted. Bath stalls must be alanned. These stalls must be ca- <br /> pable of being secwred to preserve the integrity of evidence, and ane stall must be capable of <br /> being entirely darkened an request by Police Department. <br /> The Contractor shall have on the evidence bay an alann system,which must be acceptable ta the <br /> City, which shall provide the City with a puneh cade alarrn system ta ensure that the evidence <br /> bays are secure for"chain of custody"procedures. This Conbractor has had approval of its alarm <br /> system and the City hereby agrees that such alarm system is satisfactory for the needs arid wants <br /> of the City. <br /> The successful Contractor shall post all towing and storage fees, which are attached and <br /> incorpora#ed herein as Exl�ibit B,for alI towing and stc�rage for the City, so as to be visible#o the <br /> public. The Contractor shall provide an iternized fee schedule to the vehicle operatar prior to <br /> removat by towing if such operator is avaiiable. Such schedule shall remain con�istent wi#h that <br /> schedule subrnitted to the City with the Contractor's bid. <br /> The successful Cont�actor shall provide a nan-public private telephone line between the Police <br /> Cornmunicatians Cen#er and the towing campany dispatch point far emergency use. <br />
