dump beds to stainless-steel to increase their longevity. Stainless steel dump beds should enable
them to be reused for a couple of generations of trucks. Fleet Maintenance has found that oil
pans and fuel tanks on dump trucks have increased problems with deterioration and corrosion
which requires them to be replaced prematurely. Using stainless-steel oil pans and fuel tanks
should last the full life of the truck.
DISPOSAL OF REPLACED UNITS: The vehicles are being replaced due to their advanced
hours of use and their condition. The old units will be auctioned.
PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: None.
OTHER BIDDERS: None.
POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections.
BUDGET IMPLICATIONS: Funding is available in the FY2021 Fleet and Water budgets.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Fleet Maintenance wrote the bid specifications based on
Municipal Services Division and Water Services Division requirements.
STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Newell, Public Works Director, Dan Mendenall,Municipal
Services Manager. Matt will be in attendance to answer any questions.
LEGAL REVIEW: There are no contracts for Legal to review.
This memorandum was prepared by Chris Bergschneider, Fleet Supervisor.
Attachments
Page 12
