It is agreed that each member will schedule their Duty Reduction Days between September
1St and Sept 15th for the following calendar year. If an officer moves shifts, they will be
awarded their DRD pattern based on availability as determined by the shift
commander. One 12-hour duty reduction day will be awarded for each six-week period.
The members will remain on the same DRD within their rotation pattern. If requested,an
individual 12-hour(full day)DRD may be moved at the discretion of the shift commander
subiect to adequate staffing. The moving of a DRD shall not be denied for arbitrary
reasons, however a DRD may only be requested to be moved within 28 days of the date of
trade. No officer will be required to select a DRD that falls in between working days. For
example, when the officer works their weekend 3-day set, they will not be required to work
Friday, take a DRD on Saturday, and then work Sunday. This will not be forbidden if an
officer makes such a request, however it will not be required.
Section 12. This section pertains only to uniformed officers in the Patrol Division
working the current 12-hour schedule.
When an officer attends a single day training class hosted by an agency or organization
other than the Decatur Police Department, regardless of class location, the training "duty"
day will end when the scheduled training and any associated travel ends. Officers are not
eligible for overtime unless the training and all travel time, if applicable, exceeds 12 hours.
When an officer attends a single day Decatur Police Department sponsored in-service
training class, the training "duty" day will end then the training ends. The department may
elect to hold training classes for up to 12 hours for those officers working the current 12-
hour schedule.
For training that occurs on scheduled days off for an officer,or for training that is two or
more consecutive days, the shift commander will work to properly coordinate and adiust
the officer's days off and duty hours to accommodate the adiustment while remaining
within the normal 84 hours of work per 2-week pay cycle.
Article 6
Section 3. Those employees in the police service, excluding probationary employees
in the field training phase accompanied by a Field Training Officer (FTO), shall receive $.25 per
hour in addition to the wage set out in Exhibits A,B, C,and D for each hour worked between 7:00
p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Any employee assigned to the patrol night shift will be paid the shift
differential pay for the entire 12-hour shift, regardless of early or late car assignment.
Probationary employees in the Field Training phase that involves continuous assignment to a Field
Training Officer will receive $.25 per hour in addition to the set wage, regardless of the shift
assigned, during the FTO training phase. Upon solo patrol assignment, the employee shift
differential pay will coincide with hours worked between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
3
