Section 9. Any officer actively performing the duties of a Field Training Officer shall
receive an amount equal to one and one half(1.5) hour's pay at time and one half for each day the
officer performs the duties of a Field Training Officer (FTO) with a probationary employee, or
with a non-probationary employee being retrained at the direction of the Chief of Police in regards
to the patrol function, in excess of 5 consecutive work days if detailed documentation of the
performance is required. It is understood that the one and one half hour's pay at time and one
half is in addition to any overtime pay earned pursuant to other provisions of this contract. No
more than one FTO per probationary or non-probationary officer will be eligible to receive FTO
training compensation pay during any_one work/training shift. A full day for FTO pay for
purposes related to this section is considered any day that the FTO and probationary or non-
probationary officer work at least 6 hours together.
Article 9
Section 1. Upon just cause connected with or reflecting upon the public service, an
employee may be administratively disciplined by a shift reprimand, division reprimand,
department reprimand or suspension. An employee shall be entitled to comment upon any shift or
division reprimand that is placed on record in the officer's file and such reprimand, and any
comments thereon shall also be forwarded immediately to the Chief if so requested by the
employee or a commanding officer.
A suspension day for employees working under this agreement will be the equivalent
of eight (8) hours. For those employees who receive a suspension comprising less than a
complete shift (i.e., suspended for eight hours of a twelve-hour shift), the department shall
choose the day the suspension shall be served and,as a general rule, the suspension time will
be coordinated with the officer's command officer, with the practice that the employee shall
work either the first block of the shift or the last block of the shift. The time the officer is
approved to work on the day of the suspension shall not interfere with the operations of the
department.
Article 10
Section 2. For purposes of Article 10, and only for said Article, "week" shall mean the
scheduled duty week of an employee. Further, for the purpose of accrual of vacation leave, and
only for such purpose, "week" shall mean 40 hours. Employees' leave balances shall be
maintained in hours, and increments of one tenth thereof. For those members working the 12-
hour patrol shift, when scheduling accrued vacation time using senority rights, a vacation
"week" shall consist of a minimum of 48 consecutive work hours (four 12-hour shifts).
4
