RESOLUTION OF PARTICIPATION AND SUPPORT <br /> Intergovernmental Law Enforcement Officers In-Service Training Act <br /> Public Act 82-674 <br /> WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Illinois has recognized the importance of <br /> providing mobile team in-service law enforcement training units for the purpose of providing <br /> regional in-service refresher courses and updated training to state and local law enforcement <br /> officers; and <br /> WHEREAS, to facilitate and authorize the establishment of said mobile team in-service <br /> training units, the Legislature has passed Public Act 82-674, known as the "Intergovernmental <br /> Law Enforcement Officers In-Service Training Act"; and <br /> WHEREAS, each and every law enforcement agency within the area recognizes the value <br /> and legal necessity of updated continuing police training for state and local law enforcement <br /> officers; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is recognized that the development of a regional training program will <br /> provide flexibility in training and coordination of available statewide resources to assist law <br /> enforcement agencies to meet local training needs in a timely manner as required by law; and <br /> WHEREAS, since the inception of the Law Enforcement Training Advisory Commission, <br /> Mobile Team Unit #10, (LETAC, MTU 10) formerly known as Crime Prevention Commission, <br /> MTU #10 and Illinois Law Enforcement Commission (ILEC), Region #14, the counties and <br /> municipalities therein have cooperated in local efforts to improve law enforcement training <br /> availability to all law enforcement agencies within the LETAC region, and through that <br /> association counties and municipalities have determined a need to coordinate the efforts of the <br /> numerous public and private agencies involved; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Law Enforcement Training Advisory Commission, Mobile Team Unit #10, <br /> a general not-for-profit corporation chartered in the State of Illinois was created to serve <br /> member Law Enforcement agencies within the area served by LETAC; and <br /> WHEREAS, LETAC will operate under rules, policies and procedures established and <br /> required by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board, formerly known as the <br /> Illinois Local Governmental Law Enforcement Officers Training Board, a member of which will <br /> also serve on the Law Enforcement Training Advisory Commission, Mobile Team Unit#10; <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT WHEREAS, certain funds are available to Mobile <br /> Teams from the State of Illinois as administered through the Illinois Law Enforcement Training <br /> and Standards Board, the Law Enforcement Training Advisory Commission, Mobile Team Unit <br /> #10 is hereby authorized to apply for said funds for the purpose of providing Law Enforcement <br /> Training for officers of The Decatur T11 inni G Pnl i rP nP„artment <br />
