I <br /> A <br /> I <br /> Excerpts from Plan Commission Minutes of July 10,2014 <br /> Cal.No 14-22 <br /> Ms. Stickle presented the recommendations of staff. <br /> The 20 acre subject site is located in the 3500 Block of East Mound Roa and is currently <br /> zoned R-1 Single Family Residence District. This site was annexed to the City of <br /> Decatur in November of 1998. The current use of the subject site is agric altural. <br /> The petitioner proposes to rezone from R-1 Single Family Residence(District to M-1 <br /> Intense Commercial/Light Industrial District to allow for the industrial uses that are <br /> permitted uses in the M-1 Intense Commercial/Light Industrial District. <br /> The surrounding zoning includes M-1 Intense Commercial/Light Industrial District to the <br /> north and south and R-1 Single Family Residence District to the west Rezoning this <br /> property to M-1 Intense Commercial/Light Industrial District shoidd not have a <br /> detrimental effect on the neighboring properties or the City as a whole as it surrounded <br /> on three(3) sides by agricultural land and a warehouse is located to the south. <br /> The Macon County and Decatur Comprehensive Plan shows this area';as <br /> employment The land uses permitted by the M-1 Intense Commerci�I/Light <br /> Industrial District are compatible with the surrounding uses as well s the zoning to <br /> the north and south. <br /> There were no questions for staff. <br /> Mr. Phil Cochran was sworn in by Ms. Poland. <br /> Mr. Cochran stated that he was present with a petition to rezone 20 acres hich he stated <br /> was a good thing for Decatur and Macon County.He stated that the Comprehensive Plan <br /> shows the area as an industrial sector. He referenced the current intermo project as <br /> being good for the community and hoped that the rezoning was a first step towards a <br /> number of parcels being rezoned in the area to light industrial. <br /> Mr. Myatt asked whether there was an interest in the property and whether there could be <br /> jobs for the area. Mr. Cochran responded that there was interest and that the potential <br /> project could bring jobs. <br /> It was moved and seconded(Myatt/Smith)to forward calendar number 1 -22 to the City <br /> Council with a recommendation for approval.Motion carried unanimously. <br />
