Shift/Division Letter of Reprimand minus 0.5 points <br /> Department Letter of Reprimand minus 1.0 points <br /> Any Suspension of 1 to 3 days minus 1.5 points <br /> Any Suspension of four or more days minus 2.0 points <br /> (e). Military Credit <br /> Persons who have been members of the armed forces of the United States or who, while <br /> citizens of the United States, were members of the armed forces of allies of the United States in <br /> time of hostilities with a foreign country shall receive preference for promotion to positions in <br /> the classified service in the manner provided in 65 ILLS 5/10-1-16, and as such statutory <br /> provision is hereafter amended or re-codified. Such preference shall be in addition that otherwise <br /> provided therein and not in lieu thereof. <br /> For purposes of this section, "time of hostilities with a foreign country" shall mean any <br /> period of time in the past, present, or future during which a declaration of war by the United <br /> States Congress has been or is in effect or during which an emergency condition has been or is in <br /> effect that is recognized by the issuance of a Presidential proclamation or a Presidential <br /> executive order and in which the armed forces expeditionary medal or other campaign service <br /> medals are awarded according to Presidential order. <br /> (f). Education Credit <br /> Persons who have earned a university or college degree or completed credit hours at an <br /> accredited institution of higher learning such as a university, college or junior college shall <br /> receive preference for promotions to positions in the classified service in the same manner as <br /> such preference is awarded for military service and in the amounts set out herein: <br /> Associates degree, or sixty (60) college credit hours 2.5 points <br /> Bachelors degree 5.0 points <br /> Five (5.0)points is the maximum total number of points that may be awarded. <br /> (g). Police officers must have worked seven (7) years as a sworn officer to be eligible <br /> to take the Sergeant examination. U 2 ears of service as a full time sworn officer in <br /> g P to two ( ) Y <br /> another jurisdiction will be counted toward the 7 seven ears. <br /> J ( ) Y <br /> (h). Violations of the application of the express provisions hereof may be grieved and <br /> arbitrated pursuant to Article 20, and the remedy for any such violation may include the <br /> adjustment of an applicant's placement on the promotional list. It is agreed, between the City and <br /> the Union, that any challenges to the correctness of any question or questions shall be determined <br /> in the following manner: <br /> The challenging officer shall provide in writing a challenge to any specific question or <br /> questions to the Professional Standards Lieutenant within fifteen days of the test.
