CONTRACT <br /> For trench depths of 5 feet or more, the Contractor shall provide trench protection <br /> accordance with the applicable standards and regulations cited. Prior to the <br /> commencement of any excavation or trenching activity with anticipated depths of 5 feet or <br /> more, the Contractor shall provide to the Engineer, in writing, his procedures for fulfilling <br /> the safety requirements for trench/excavation protection. The written statement will <br /> include the name and credentials of the competent person, employed by the contractor, <br /> who is responsible for trench/excavation safety on the job site. <br /> SECTION 29. Use Of Fire Hydrants <br /> Prior to any use of fire hydrants by the Contractor, a permit shall be obtained from the <br /> Water Services Division in accordance with Sections 20 and 23 of Chapter 64 of the City <br /> Code. Water Services Division is located at 2600 North Jasper Street; phone 217-875- <br /> 5705. The permit will be issued at no charge to the Contractor. <br /> SECTION 30. Standard Specifications <br /> The following Standard Specifications shall govern this project: <br /> The Illinois Department of Transportation(IDOT) "Standard Specifications for Road and <br /> Bridge Construction", Current edition. <br /> The "Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways" current <br /> version in effect on the date of project authorization. <br /> The Illinois Department of Transportation(IDOT) "Manual of Test Procedures for <br /> Materials" current version in effect on the date of project authorization. <br /> The City of Decatur, Department of Public Works, Engineering Division "Construction <br /> Standards", dated January 1, 2003. <br /> The "Standard Specifications for Water and Sewer Construction in Illinois" current version <br /> in effect on the date of project authorization. <br /> The Standard Specifications listed above and in case of conflict with any part, or parts of <br /> said specifications,the Contract will take precedence and shall govern. <br /> SECTION 31. Traffic Control <br /> The work described below shall be included in the contract unit price per lump sum for <br /> Phase A—Polyethlene Pipe Installation and Phase B —Pump Installation, as marked in <br /> Exhibit A. Traffic control shall be in accordance with the applicable sections of the <br /> Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, the applicable guidelines <br /> contained in the Illinois Manual on Uniform Traffic Devices for Streets and Highways, <br /> these Standard Specifications, and any special details and Highway Standards contained <br /> herein and in the plans. <br /> 9 <br />
