- 16 - <br /> Section 1 . Hours of Work <br /> A. 1 The Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday <br /> through Thursday; from 9 a.m. to 5 : 30 p.m. on Friday and <br /> Saturday. The Library will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. <br /> on Sundays during the months of September through May. <br /> Sundays will be part of the workweek. No employee will <br /> be required to work more than one in four Sundays. <br /> Operational needs shall not change the Library' s <br /> commitment that no employee will be required to work more <br /> than one in four Sundays . The Library will be closed on <br /> the Sundays before Memorial Day and Labor Day. These <br /> Sunday hour provisions will begin September 1, 2006. <br /> 2 . Work schedules showing the employee' s shift, workdays <br /> and hours shall be posted at convenient places and <br /> times. The Employer shall not change a posted work <br /> schedule within fourteen (14) calendar days prior to <br /> the employee' s shift except for operational needs. <br /> Operational needs is defined to include shortage of <br /> available staff due to sickness, vacation, vacancies, <br /> training and/or other employee leaves of absence, and <br /> acts of God. <br /> 3 . Workweek is defined to mean from Monday through Sunday. <br /> 4 . An employee who is scheduled to work on a Saturday may <br /> request that his or her Sunday assignment shall be for <br /> that same weekend. The administration will make a good <br /> faith effort to comply with such a request . <br /> 5 . Employees shall not be assigned to work on a Sunday <br /> during periods when they have approved vacation or a <br /> leave of absence. <br /> B. Each employee working four (4) hours or more shall receive <br /> a duty free lunch period except that this shall not apply <br /> on Sundays when the work period is only four (4) hours . <br /> C. Each employee working four (4) hours a day or more <br /> shall be provided with a fifteen (15) minute rest <br /> period during each four (4) hour work period. <br /> Section 2 . Overtime <br /> Hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week shall be <br /> paid at 1-1/2 times the employee' s regular rate of pay, or <br /> the employee may elect to receive comp-time at the rate of <br /> 1-1/2 times the hours in excess of 40 hours worked. <br /> Employees who elect comp-time shall have two election <br />
