Due to the additional time it will take to send final notices and effect the needed installations, it is
necessary to provide additional time on the contract to enable Burdick to perform the necessary
installation work. It is proposed that the final completion date be changed from August 1, 2012,to
December 31, 2012.
SCHEDULE:
Over 750 pressure reducing valves were installed under this project over the past year. There are 67
unresponsive customers remaining to be inspected for possible installation. The Water Management
Department is sending out final notices to the unresponsive customers with the objective to have the
remaining installations completed prior to December 31, 2012.
BUDGET AND STAFFING IMPLICATIONS:
Budget Impact: No additional funding is being proposed with Change Order No. 1. The change
order sets the completion of the Pressure Reducing Valve Installation project to December 31, 2012.
l Staffing Impact: Staff time has been allocated for managing this project.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections. It is anticipated that some of the 67
water customers who have been non-responsive to prior notices for the installation of the pressure
reducing valve may express their opposition to this proposed action.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Water Management Department
STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director, Keith Alexander, Director of Water
Management and Matt Newell, City Engineer.
