ADM is
not willing to accept your proposal, however, I would like to reiterate, in writing, what I outlined
for you, your father and your brother-in-law during our meeting last week.
In exchange for the neighbors cooperation with this project ADM agrees to the following:
1. Good Neighbor. If the referendum is approved by the voters next March and if
ADM is the successful bidder at the public auction, ADM would be required to petition the City
of Decatur for any change in zoning to the property. ADM agrees that prior to the time it would
petition the City for any changes in zoning to meet with the neighbors to explain ADM's plan in
detail. We would certainly expect comments and input from the neighbors and as I told you,
ADM would not only listen to your concerns, but would be willing to make reasonable
modifications in the plans, if deemed appropriate by ADM in its sole discretion, in an attempt to
alleviate your concerns.
As I also mentioned to you, before any construction could begin, zve would need the
approval of the City. In order to obtain the necessary approval, it would require a hearing before
the City Council and any concerns the neighbors have could be aired at the council meeting. In
my judgment, I believe the City Council would attempt to be fair to all concerned.
During our meeting, your dad mentioned that the Becks had always been good neighbors
to ADM. We agree. We are pledging that ADM will continue to be a good neighbor to all of
you in the future.
