Excerpts from Plan Commission Minutes of September 1,2011 continued:
b. The sign located at the east entrance shall be setback at least 25 feet from the property line
along East Lake Shore Drive. It shall not exceed 11 feet in height and shall not exceed 64
square feet in cabinet/sign area.
c. The sign to be located near the corner of South 16ffi Street and East Lake Shore Drive shall
be setback no less than 40 feet from the property line along South 16'' Street and no less
than 10 feet from the property line along East Lake Shore Drive. This sign shall not
exceed 20 feet in height. The cabinet (including the EMU) shall not exceed 110 square
feet in area. The sign area shall not exceed 100 square feet and no more than 32 square
feet of the allowed 100 square feet shall be an electronic message unit.
d. Sign permits will be required before any signage is installed.
A motion to forward Calendar Number 11-35 to the City Council with a recommendation for
approval is suggested.
Chairman Mickler said the five (5) foot setback from the property line seemed too close to 16`x`
Street. He feels it might obstruct the view of vehicles leaving the hospital.
Ms. Stickle said the Plan Commission can recommend another setback. Ms. Stickle stated the
Zoning Ordinance requires a five (5) foot setback for signs without electronic message units and
ten(10) foot for a sign with electronic message units.
Mr. Shane Major, representative, was sworn in by Mrs. Poland.
Mr. Major said there is a boulevard, a sidewalk and then five (5) feet to where the sign will sit.
Chairman Mickler asked how wide the boulevard is. Mr. Major said approximately one and one
half(1 '/2) feet which makes it closer to being setback ten(10) feet.
There were no objectors present.
It was moved and seconded (Livingston/Smith) to forward Cal. No. 11-35 to the City Council
with recommendation for approval as presented by staff. Motion carried unanimously.
