Exhibit A
Task 00300—Location Drainage Study
A limited location drainage study will address drainage-related elements required for constructing a grade
separation at Faries Parkway. The scope of the drainage study will include identifying the existing drainage
system and developing a conceptual drainage scheme for an overpass at Faries Parkway. No hydraulic
analysis, storm sewer outlet evaluation, or stormwater detention will be performed.
1. Plans will be developed for the existing drainage system in accordance with the IDOT Drainage
Manual. URS will determine the existing drainage system, identify drainage patterns and drainage
features, structures, and document any existing drainage problems. This work will include:
A. Preparing an Existing Drainage Plan. Information from survey work and available plans
from previously constructed improvements within the project's limits will be incorporated
into the existing drainage plan.
B. Evaluating and documenting any existing drainage problems.
C. Identifying Base Floodplains
D. Identifying Major Drainage Features
2. Conceptual drainage provisions for an overpass at Faries Parkway will be formulated. Proposed
solutions to any identified existing drainage problems will be developed. The following drainage-
related tasks will be performed for a roadway overpass at Faries Parkway:
1. Develop Drainage Design Criteria
2. Evaluate impacts on right-of-way for proposed drainage system elements.
3. Develop conceptual drainage alternatives details for overpass at Faries Parkway. Drainage
elements may consist of a fully enclosed system or a combination of ditches and storm
sewers. The proposed drainage plan will show key design elements and the layout of the
drainage system.
4. Prepare Drainage Study Exhibits.
3. A railroad drainage study will be made to assess existing drainage conditions and assess any
modifications to it that may be needed to accommodate any changes to the roadway alignment or
reconfiguration of the railroad tracks that may be required as part of the project.
Task 00400—Alternate Geometric Studies
1. The following conceptual studies will be performed for the option to construct an overpass carrying
Brush College Road over Faries Parkway:
A. Develop layout of overpass including ramps to Faries Parkway.
B. Establish horizontal alignment of Brush College Road and ramps.
C. Prepare conceptual vertical alignment studies of Brush College Road and ramps. It is
assumed that the railroad tracks at the Faries Parkway intersection will remain at their
existing elevation.
D. Evaluate impacts to side streets and entrances and develop street closure/access plan.
E. Property impacts and right-of-way needs will be reviewed for this option.
F. Review overhead and underground utility impacts for this option. Coordination will be
performed to determine extent of impacts and potential options available for relocation along
7-26-11 A-5
