Seal Coat Treatment Project <br /> It is necessary to make some significant maintenance repairs to the following streets: <br /> STREET NAME IMPROVEMENT LIMITS <br /> Tate Street Taylor Avenue to East End <br /> Davis Street Fitzgerald Road to Welles Street <br /> Star Route Road South City Limits to North City Limits <br /> Marietta Street Sunnyside Road to Moffet Lane <br /> Moffet Avenue Marietta Street to North City Limits <br /> Moffet Lane Route 36 to North City Limits <br /> Sundown Court Marietta Street to Sun Court <br /> Sun Court Sundown Court to Sunup Court <br /> Sunup Court Sun Court to Marietta Street <br /> The streets identified for this project are currently chip seal streets with roadside ditches. They <br /> were transferred from township maintenance to City maintenance over the past several years <br /> with water connection annexations. <br /> Project Description <br /> The Seal Coat Treatment Project places a standard oil and chip surface on each street. The work <br /> involves spraying a layer of oil on the street surface and then placing a layer of small aggregate <br /> called "chips." The surface treatment is very common on many outlying streets around the City <br /> and provides a durable time-tested driving surface and seals the surface to reduce water intrusion <br /> into the sub-grade. The treatment needs to be installed every 4 to 7 years depending on traffic. <br /> The project scope and specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division and approved by <br /> the Illinois Department of Transportation(IDOT) for the use of Motor Fuel Tax funds. The <br /> project was advertised on September 1, and September 8, 2010, and bids were opened on <br /> September 13, 2010. The results ofthe letting are as follows (bid tabulation attached): <br /> Compared to <br /> Engineer's Est. <br /> Bidder Bid Price Over (-Under) <br /> Engineer's Estimate $106,392.00 ------- <br /> Earl Walker Company, Inc. $ 81,300.00 (-23.58%) <br /> Steffens 3-D Construction, Inc. $ 90,825.00 (-14.63%) <br /> Dunn Company $115,650.00 8.70% <br /> Earl Walker Company, Inc. provided the low bid and has successfully completed many seal coat <br /> project for area townships with the assistance of the Macon County Highway Department. <br /> Following the approval of the City Council, the bid tabulation will be forwarded to the Illinois <br /> Department of Transportation for final approval in accordance with the rules governing the <br /> disbursement of Motor Fuel Tax funds. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution and bid award. <br /> Page � 2 <br />
