Exhibit A
removed from a portion of the existing underpass, the existing underpass can be removed
and reconstructed.
D. Perform preliminary design and sizing of primary superstructure elements—girders,
stringers, floorbeams, ballast pan, bearins, etc.
E. Determine total depth from top of rail to profile grade of under-passing roadway.
F. Determine configuration and arrangement of substructures.
G. Evaluate alternatives and formulate recommendation for proposed foundation system, using
available geotechnical information.
H. Evaluate alternatives and formulate recommendations for retaining wall systems required
beyond both ends of bridge for lowered roadway
L Develop preliminary estimate of cost for the railroad structure and associated retaining wall
systems
2. The following will be performed far a structures study for the alternative of a highway bridge
carrying an elevated Brush College Road over the NS railroad yard:
A. Determine number, configuration, and length of spans
B. Evaluate superstructure alternatives—PPC girder, steel beam, steel plate girder
C. Formulate proposed cross sectional geometrics for the superstructure
D. Perform preliminary design and sizing of primary superstructure elements—beams and
concrete deck
E. Determine total depth between profile grade line on overpassing roadway and top of rail of
existing underpassing tracks
F. Determine configuration and arrangement of substructures and associated foundation
system.
G. Evaluate alternatives and formulate recommendations for retaining wall systems required to
support embankments of approach roadways beyond both ends of bridge.
H. Evaluate methods to fill in the existing underpass while maintaining the CN underpass at the
NS yard.
L Develop preliminary estimate of cost for the roadway structure and associated retaining wall
systems.
3. The following will be performed for a structures study for the alternative of a highway bridge
carrying an elevated Brush College Road over the NS railroad yard but potentially rebuilding the CN
underpass:
A. Determine disposition of existing CN underpass if roadway overpass option is selected.
B. Inspect the existing substructure supporting the superstructure over the CN track. Determine
the condition of the substructure and provide an assessment for leaving the existing
substructure in place.
C. If it is determined that the CN underpass is to be reconstructed, develop construction scheme
for replacement.
D. Evaluate superstructure alternatives. As a minimum, maintain existing vertical clearance.
E. Formulate proposed cross sectional geometrics for superstructure.
Scope 6-4-10 A-11
