As part of the project, the Illinois Department
of Transportation is making pavement improvements including curb and gutter replacement and
milling offthe old pavement surface and replacing it with new asphalt pavement. The paving
work is currently planned to begin late June.
Additional Design Work and Construction Engineering
A supplemental agreement has been requested from URS Corporation to provide the following
work related the Eldorado Streetscape Project:
1. Street Light Review at the Intersection of Eldorado and Franklin: During the design
process for the Franklin Street Bridge rehabilitation project, the Illinois Department of
Transportation(IDOT) identified problems with the lighting design at the intersection of
Franklin and Eldorado. The lighting design currently in place was approved over a year
ago by the IDOT street lighting engineers as part of the Eldorado Streetscape Project. No
design errors were made by URS and every design change required by IDOT was made
during the original design review process. In a letter to the City(attached) IDOT requires
the City to address unspecified concerns with regard to the lighting level. In order to
fully address the unspecified concerns with IDOT and perform any necessary design
changes, URS has proposed a fee of$5,902. Any change orders to the Eldorado
Streetscape Project that may result from this additional review will need to be approved
by Council if they exceed the funding that was previously approved.
 Page ( 2
