A Resolution authorizing an Intergovernmental Agreement with Macon County to share
costs related to the improvement of Lost Bridge Road between Lake Shore Drive and
Country Club Road. The project is estimated to be $1,150,000 with the City
reimbursin the Count u to $475,000 to im rove curb and tter as art of the
g Y P P P
project.
2. A Resolution authorizing up to $475,000 in Motor Fuel Tax funds to pay for the City's
portion of the Lost Bridge Road Improvement project.
3. A Resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Local Agency Agreement for the
Jurisdictional Transfer of Lost Bridge Road between Lake Shore Drive and Country
Club Road, except the bridge, from Macon County to the City of Decatur.
BACKGROUND:
Prior Council Action
There has been no prior Council action related to this proposed project and jurisdictional
transfer.
Background
According to information obtained from the Illinois Department of Transportation, the City
currently has jurisdiction over all of Lost Bridge Road from Lake Shore Drive to Country Club
Road except where the road crosses Lake Decatur. Documented maintenance responsibility,
however, resides with both the City and the County at various locations along this portion of
the roadway. Over the years the varying jurisdiction and maintenance responsibilities of the
roadway has led to a less focused maintenance effort on the roadway.
Street Improvement Project is Proposed
The County Engineer proposed that the City and County complete a joint project that would
make a significant improvement to the City's portion of Lost Bridge Road and that both the
jurisdiction and maintenance responsibilities far the roadway(except the bridge)be formally
placed with the City of Decatur. The County will retain the jurisdiction and maintenance
responsibility for the bridge over Lake Decatur because the County has more direct access to
Federal and State bridge funding.
