Wabash Crossing Phase III Description <br /> Wabash Crossing Rental Phase III will be the third phase of rental development <br /> of the DHA HOPE VI project that will result in the complete transformation of a <br /> 120 acre parcel of underutilized land in downtown Decatur into a mixed-income <br /> and mixed-use neighborhood. East Lake, the DHA and the City of Decatur are <br /> working in partnership to develop the Wabash Crossing mixed income <br /> community. East Lake will serve as the Master Developer ofi the project. <br /> Historv: <br /> In 1999 the DHA received a $34.8 million HOPE VI grant to demolish the <br /> Longview Place public housing development and build a new construction mixed- <br /> income community. The DHA demolished Longview Place in 2003 and 2004. <br /> Including the former Longview Place land, the Wabash Crossing total site is a <br /> 120 acre parcel. There will be a total of three rental phases with approximately <br /> 550 units of housing, including rental and homeownership. The land was <br /> compiled through significant land contributions from the DHA and the City of <br /> Decatur.
