: N <br /> Study Objectives �I <br /> The objectives of this study are: <br /> • Review the ADM proposal for alternative sources of water. <br /> • Evaluate the feasibility of using the SWTP emergency lake water intake during a <br /> drought period. <br /> • Review the concept and update costs for constructing a new permanent water <br /> intake located 1,300 feet upstream of the Highway 51 Bridge. <br /> • Evaluate alternative groundwater sources near and downstream from the SWTP. <br /> Task 1 —Review ADM Proposal <br /> T'he Engineer will obtain and review the technical information related to ADM's <br /> proposal for alternative sources of water. It is expected that any reference to specific <br /> recommendations from ADM's consultant will have already been removed from the <br /> information to be provided by ADM. Engineer will develop an independent opinion <br /> about the feasibility of the proposal and the potential yield of the proposed alternative <br /> water sources. This information will be provided in a draft technical memorandum <br /> submitted to the Owner for review and comments, which will be addressed in a final <br /> technical memorandum (20 copies). The Engineer will attend one meeting with the <br /> Owner to present the draft technical memorandum and receive comments. The Engineer <br /> will also attend one meeting to present the final technical memorandum. <br /> Task 2—Evaluate the Feasibility of Using Lake Emergency Water Intake for Water <br /> Supply During a Drought Period <br /> The primary intakes for the existing raw water intake struciure consist of six 42- <br /> inch diameter openings, all centered at Elev.604. Each opening is protected by a screen <br /> with 0.1875 inch openings. The inta.ke structure also has an "emergency" intake, a 36- <br /> inch square opening, with its invert at Elev.597. The emergency intake opening is <br /> protected by a bar screen with 1/2-inch vertical bars spaced 2 inches apart. All intake <br /> openings discharge into a 54 inch diameter pipe at the bottom of the intake structure that <br /> conveys lake water to the wet well of the raw water pumping station. The low-water <br /> pump cutoff for the Raw Water Pumping Station is at Elev.592.5 feet. <br /> The purpose of this task is to calculate the range of capacities that could be <br /> delivered through the lake emergency intake for lake levels below Elev.606 and above <br /> Elev.600.
