I contacted four(4)of National Wrecking Company's previous project owners out of a list of over
42 projects which they listed as a part of the bid proposal requirement. The four(4) I selected were those
projects which I felt were most comparable to our project. An example of one of their projects which was
completed in the past year was the demolition of three(3) building at the corner of Wacker Drive and
Randolph Street, a location which is in downtown Chicago. The buildings were one ten story and two six
story buildings with a demolitions contract value of over four million dollars. All four of the contracts gave
excellent reviews and with the exception of one contact has used them for multiple projects. When I
described our project all of the contacts indicated that they felt National Wrecking could perform the
demolitions. All said they would contract with them for future work when needed.
I did contact the references for Bechstein Construction Corp and found that their work was
acceptable. The references that I contacted said that they would hire them for future projects. Their work
experience also showed that they are very capable of performing this size of project for the City.
National Wrecking Company provided all of the additional information requested in the proposal,
and has submitted the additional information as specified in the bid documents for the three low bidders.
If Alternate B is chosen by the City as the project to be completed I have no hesitation or concern
in recommending that the City accept the proposal/bid of National Wrecking Company and enter into a
contract with them to pertorm the work.
Please advise if you have any questions or if you need any additional information. As stated
earlier I am extremely please with the outcome of the competitive bids, and find that the City will be
getting a good value for the work to be performed.
