I � � <br /> 4. Using field measurements (PID readings, visual appearance and olfactory <br /> indications), determine if a release has occurred. <br /> 5. If there has been a release, report the release to Illinois Emergency <br /> Management Agency(IEMA) and obtain an incident number. In addition to <br /> reporting the release, preparation and submission of the 20-day and 45-day <br /> reports in accordance with applicable regulations under the Illinois EPA <br /> Leaking Underground Storage Tank(LUST) Program. <br /> Task 3 —Field Activities for Site Investigation <br /> If a release is identified under Task 2, expedited turnaround times for laboratory <br /> analytical results will be requested. Far the purposes of this Project and the Site <br /> Investigation Work Plan submitted under Task l, it is assumed a release is identified at <br /> the Site. Therefore, Task 3 activities to determine the nature and extent, horizontal and <br /> vertical, can be implemented without submission of additional documents under the <br /> Illinois EPA SRP Program or an amendment to the Brownfield Grant. <br /> The field activities identified in the Site Investigation Work Plan will include the use of a <br /> Direct Push Technology (DPT) rig to obtain soil samples to a depth of approximately <br /> twenty(20) feet below ground surface (fbgs). For the project estimates, a systematic <br /> investigation approach utilizing a sampling grid of 20 feet by 20 feet will be used over <br /> the property unless there are specific locations identified from the historical records <br /> reviews and interviews. If specific locations are identified, Bodine may also use a <br /> backhoe to excavate test pits to identify anomalies, lithology, preferential migration <br /> pathways and locations of the source(s) of contamination and contaminants of concern. <br /> As indicated, it is likely that this approach will be modified into a stratified random <br /> approach to incorporate the exact locations of the USTs. <br /> From initial assessments of the property for the grant application, the likely contaminants <br /> of concern are Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylenes (total) (BTEX), Lead and <br /> Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), if diesel fuel is indicated in any of the USTs. <br /> Since a Comprehensive NFR is being sought, four(4) borings will be used to collect two <br /> (2) soil samples from each boring for the Target Compound List (TCL) and Target <br /> Analyte List (TAL) under 35 IAC 740. This will result in eight (8) soils samples far <br /> TAL/TCL. <br /> Sample collection and analysis will be performed in accordance with the procedures <br /> outlined in the Illinois EPA approved Site Investigation Work Plan and will include <br /> analysis by SW 846 Method 5035/8260B for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), SW <br /> 846 Method 6010/6020 for metals (total), SW 846 Method 1311 for metals, Synthetic <br /> Precipitation Leaching Procedure (SPLP), SW 846 Method 8310C for PAHs and SW 846 <br /> Method 8270 for Semi-Volatile Compounds (SVOCs). The laboratory selected will be <br /> an Illinois EPA and NELAC certified laboratory. <br />
