(Short term continued)
Take Downtown Development To The Next Level—As you know the downtown
area is already alive with activity as plans implemented by the city and private
developers have created a significant foundation on which to build.
Implementation: July 2006
Action Plan:
➢ In July staff will present the City Council with a Downtown Decatur Development
Strategy aimed at outlining the development priorities for downtown. We have and
continue to solicit input from local cornmunity groups, downtown merchants and
others regarding the plan.Once the plan is presented the themes contained within it
will serve as a guide for future development, with the terms of the plan guided by
available resources and opporiunities.
Develop Infrastructure Master Plans (sewer replacement program)—The City's
engineering and infrastructure department currently updates its 5-year Capital
Projects plan on an annual basis. The plan prioritizes street and sewer repairs and
other infrastructure proj ects based on public and staff input and available financial
resources. The department traditionally sends out forms to various community groups
and departments requesting capital projects. The results are reviewed and prioritized
based on available resources. In the past, however, the Decatur City Council has not
been involved with this process.
Implementation: October 2006
Action Plan:
➢ We will schedule a study session in October for council input prior to that
process beginning this year in November.
