Existing residential buildings with one or two room units
or commercial or institutional facilities, such as hotels, rooming houses,
dormitories, can be utilized. Residents will pay no more than 30% of their income
for housing and will enter into annual teases. Each building will have on-site
supervision and secured access. Case management and support services may
be provided on site or in close proximity to the property.
• Supportive Living Apartments will provide conventional rental units in
multifamily residential buildings for the chronically homeless who are able to live
independently with limited supervision, such as Typical Resident#2 and Typical
Resident#3. Each unit will contain a separate living area, kitchen, bathroom and
bedroom. Residents will pay no more than 30% of their income for rent and have
a separate lease with the building owner. These units can be developed as a
sinle project that contains studio and one bedroom apartments or as part of a
larger affordable or supportive housing complex that may atso include larger
units for families. Case management and supportive services will be provided off-
site.
Development Approach. The proposed strategy utilizes three distinct approaches to
achieve its goals: master leasing, rental assistance, and acquisition/rehabilitation.
These vehicles may be used atone or in combination to achieve the most appropriate
deal structure.
PAGE 3O
