Re: Proposal for Survey Work to Support Dredging of Basin 6
City Project No. 9956
Summar ov f Request (See attached spreadsheet for complete breakdown)
Tota1 hours: 295
Total cost: $ 23,692
We are proposing to perform this work on a time and material basis due to the uncertainty
of field conditions during the period when this work will be performed. The estimate of
probable cost for this work is $ 23,692 but may be more or less than this amount. We
will invoice for the actual time and material it takes to perform and complete all work.
This proposal will provide the City of Decatur with quality management information for
the successful dredging of Lake Decatur Basin 6. We are available to discuss this work
with you at your earliest convenience so as to not delay the commencement of the
dredging operations.
We have not included any time in this proposal for determining the property line for Lake
Decatur, and therefore no time is allowed to determine the 30 foot buffer zone between
the property line and the point where dredging can begin. This proposal assumes a safe
distance in excess of 30 feet based upon physical evidence of the current elevation of the
shoreline. We recommend City Counsel research this issue to be sure the dredging
operation does not adversely impact landowners adjacent to the lake. We would be
happy to locate the property line of the lake in Basin 6 and to establish the buffer zone for
the City as additional work if you so desire and feel it necessary to avoid all potential
impacts.
Please ca11 me if you have any questions concerning this request. We look forward to
assisting you with this critical project for the community of Decatur.
Sincerely,
Homer L. Chastain &Associates, LLP
.
