Newell,P.E., City EngineerG�u�( <br /> SUBJECT: Annual Sanitary Sewer Cleaning, City Project 2003-11 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the <br /> contract for Annual Sanitary Sewer Cleaning, City Project 2003-11, to Hoerr Construction, Inc., <br /> as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$88,750.00, and that the Mayor be authorized <br /> to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. il <br /> BACKGROUND: '� <br /> Sanitary sewer lines are an extremely vital part of the City's infrastructure. They require constant �I <br /> maintenance of which cleaning is the most critical component. The proposed Annual Sanitary <br /> Sewer Cleaning Project is geared toward doing general sewer line cleaning of approximately ', <br /> 100,000 feet of City sewers. This work will be accomplished alongside City maintenance , <br /> cleaning operations and will augment the cleaning work currently being done. Maintaining clean , <br /> and unobstructed sewer pipes will reduce sewer backups and improve the overall operation of the <br /> City's sanitary sewer system. If successful, this project will be expanded upon to become an <br /> annual maintenance project that will ultimately reduce many of the backup problems encountered <br /> in the City's sewers. <br /> The project specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division. The project was <br /> advertised on June 16, 2003 and bids were received on June 30, 2003.
