E., City EngineerG,,,,,,,,_ <br /> SUBJECT: Cresthaven Sump Pumps <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing the City <br /> Manager and the Director of Engineering and Infrastructure to reimburse Cresthaven Park <br /> residents for costs associated with disconnecting sump pump drain lines from the sanitary sewer. <br /> In addition, the resolution allows reimbursement to be made to all property owners in the <br /> neighborhood for expenses related to connecting sump pump drains to the City's storm sewer <br /> system or to the proposed sump pump drain line that is anticipated to be completed by Spring of <br /> 2004. The authorization is for a reimbursement of 50% of the costs up to a maximum <br /> reimbursement of $500.00 per property. The maximum authorized disbursement from the <br /> General Fund is $50,000. <br /> The resolution authorizes the City Manager and the Director of Engineering and Infrastructure to <br /> prepare guidelines (attached) regulating the disbursement of funds and to waive all City permits <br /> associated with the work. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> In February, 2002, the City Council authorized an agreement with Bainbridge, Gee, Milanski & <br /> Associates, Inc. (BGM), to investigate ongoing sanitary sewer overflows in the MacArthur Road <br /> / Shadow Lane area. In October, 2002, City staff received the final report from BGM. In <br /> December, 2002, a copy of the Executive Summary was conveyed to the City Council and <br /> authorization was received for City staff to poll the Cresthaven Park neighborhood as to the <br /> presence of sump pumps in area homes. <br />
