Decatur Neighborhood Services Division BES Proposal#02-0276 <br /> Subsurface Investigation July 5,2002 <br /> 1.0 SUBSURFACE SOIL INVESTIGATION SCOPE OF WORK <br /> BODINE agrees to furnish labor, materials, equipment and other items required to complete two <br /> (2)borings to a ma.ximum depth of fifteen(15) feet on each of the Properties incidated above. <br /> The borings will enable the collection of up to two soil samples at each identified property to be <br /> analyzed for Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene (BTEX), Polycyclic Aromatic <br /> Hydrocarbons(PAHs) and Lead by PDC Laboratories, Inc. The locations of referenced borings <br /> shall be determined in consultation with the City of Decatur,Neighborhood Services Division <br /> representative and the complete Phase I Report, with appendices. <br /> If the presence of groundwater is observed at fifteen(15) feet below ground surface (bgs) or less, <br /> a temporary well will be installed and groundwater sa.mples may be obtained, provided sufficient <br /> volume is available. Samples will be properly containerized in 40 milliliter vials with Teflon <br /> septurr�, for analysis by PDC Laboratories of indicator contaminants referred to as Volatile <br /> Organic Compounds (VOCs). These compounds aze associated with petroleum, oils, lubricants, <br /> solvents and possible breakdown products identified in the Phase I Report summary as potentially <br /> impacting the aforementioned properties. <br /> 1.1 The CLIENT will provide the complete Phase I Report for review and evaluation by <br /> BODINE prior to scheduling the fieid effort. Should information contained in the <br /> complete report indicate an alternate technical approach be considered to assess the <br /> potential for contamination affecting the Properties, based on review of the complete <br /> Phase I Report, BODINE will notify the CLIENT immediately and submit an alternate <br /> proposal to address any data gaps which may be identified. <br /> 1.2 The CLIENT shall endeavor to accurately locate all utilities including, but not limited to, <br /> electric, gas, cable, telephone, water, septic system and septic tank such that sampling <br /> locations can be established to avoid impacting the utilities. <br /> 1.3 BODINE will contact the Joint Utility Locating Information for Excavators (JULIE) and <br /> work with the City of Decatur in order to locate underground utilities prior to initiation of <br /> the subsurface investigation activities. <br /> 1.4 BODINE shall utilize a truck mounted geoprobe unit to collect soil and potentially <br /> groundwater samples to a depth of 15 feet bgs. The location of the soil borings and <br /> samples shall be established based upon review of the complete Phase I Report, including <br /> all appendices and consultation with the CLIENT. Should additional borings or samples <br /> be needed, BODINE has identified the price for additional borings and samples in Section <br /> 3.0. . <br /> -2- <br /> BODINE ENVII�ONMENTAL SERVICES,INC. <br />
