_ d. Determine the impact of high lake levels at each site.
e. Determine the impact of flooding when the gate(s), at the control structure(s), is(are)
closed.
f. Determine the availability of electrical power to each site.
g. Identify construction permitting requirements for each site. This includes City, IEPA
and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
h. Evaluate monitoring, instrumentation, alarming, and automation at control
structure(s).
i. Prepare control structure siting technical memorandum including opinion of probable
construction costs for review and comment by the City. The purpose of this
memorandum is to provide the information needed by the City to select site(s) for the
control structure(s). The contents of this memorandum will be included in the final
report.
2. Raw Water Emergency Intake Lines. Task 1.2 involves the planning for the construction
of two emergency raw water inta.ke lines. The lines are to extend from the existing raw
water intake structure to locations up stream of the US Route 51 bridges. The purpose of
the lines is to allow the City to take water from locations in the lake that are less likely to
be influenced by contaminates that float on the surface of the lake near points of
discharge from the storm sewer system.
a. Prepare a contour map of the lake bottom between the existing intake and the west
US Route 51 bridge; the area under the bridges between the abutments; and a strip,
the width of the lake, from the east US Route 51 bridge to a point 400 feet upstream
of the east US Route 51 bridge.
b. Identify routes for emergency intake lines.
c. Identify sites for a new intake.
d. Develop subsurface/geotechnical information and recommendation along the
preliminary emergency intake line routes and sites for new intake.
e. Select emergency intake line size and type of pipe material based on raw water use
criteria provided by City.
f. Evaluate emergency intake line routes, construction methods, and pipe materials.
g. Identify construction permitting requirements. This includes City, IEPA and U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers.
h. Prepare technical memorandum including opinion of probable construction cost for
review and comment by the City. The contents of this memorandum will be included
in the final report.
3. New Raw Water Intake. Task 1.3 involves the planning for the future construction of a
new raw water intake to replace the existing raw water intake.
a. Evaluate the lake bottom contour maps geotechnical information, and other available
information provided by the City.
A-2
CoAttachA iske Decatur
slwDecatw Disk/as
03/OS/02
