This is a third non- <br /> consecutive year request.) <br /> DMCOC has been working with the City of Decatur to obtain land and construct the Martin Luther <br /> King Senior Center and Anna Waters Head Start Center,which will be integrated into the Near North <br /> Redevelopment Proj ect. These facilities will provide a direct benefit to the elderly,children and their family <br /> members who reside within this area. Funds will be used to retain the technical,legal,and architectural <br /> expertise required to proceed with this project. <br /> 5. Applicant: Macon County Health Department <br /> Project: First Call for Help (5) <br /> Recommended award: $16 221.57 <br /> � <br /> Prior Funding Received: Yes (Funds were received in 2000. This is a second year request.) <br /> City funding,in conjunction with that of several other agencies,supports the"First Call for Help" <br /> program,a referral service to inform residents with needs about available services in the community. "First <br /> Call"collects data about all community services and agencies;publishes a detailed directory for use by <br /> agencies,schools,churches and the public;maintains a telephone referral service far citizens;and compiles <br /> data from the referrals to assess the areas and magnitude of need for services. <br /> 6. Applicant: Decatur Catholic Charities <br /> Project: Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers (8) <br /> Recommended award: $7,250.65 <br /> Prior Funding Receiyed: Yes (Funds were received in 2000. This is a second year request.) <br /> Funding is used to hire a coordinator for the Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers(IVC)proj ect which is <br /> sponsored by Decatur Catholic Charities. The NC proj ect serves frail homebound seniors through a <br /> network of trained volunteers from area religious congregations and the community. NC works with <br /> community health and social service agencies to fill-in gaps in services,so that these individuals can maintain <br /> their independence and quality of life within their own home environment. <br /> 7. Applicant: Easter Seals Central Illinois,Inc. <br /> Project: Enhanced Ramp Program (9) <br /> Recommended award: $14,158.27 <br /> PriorFundingReceived: Yes(Funds were received in 1999 and 2000. This is a third consecutive <br /> year request.) <br /> The Easter Seals Central Illinois,Inc.'s Ramp Program provides portable or permanent wheelchair <br /> ramps and lifts for low-and moderate-income persons with disabilities. These minor home modifications <br /> improve livability and safety for disabled community residents,including tenants. The goal is to serve <br /> approximately ten residents this year. <br />
