Council had recommended that Catholic Charities pursue a Conditional Use Permit. The new
location is desirable as all operations can be consolidated and available at one location. The
building was purchased several years ago with the intent to renovate which would be done with
respect to the historical character of the neighborhood. The neighbors were canvassed regarding
the proposal and letters of welcome to Catholic Charities were received.
Mr. Roach stated that he was concerned with the conditions as stated by staff. He stated that he
did not recall any conditions when the petition first went to the Plan Commission. His primary
concern was with the hours of operation being limited to Monday through Friday. Mr. Roach
stated that approximately 15 to 20 percent of revenue comes from the Saturday sales and that
money is used to operate the food pantry and provide other free services. He requested the Plan
Commission to approve the Saturday hours.
Mr. Nordholm asked if there was concern with all of the conditions or just the one regarding the
hours of operation. Mr. Roach stated that he was o.k. with the other conditions but concerned
about the Saturday hours.
There were no objectors present.
It was moved and seconded(Naber/Nordholm)to forward Cal. No. 03-25 to City Council with
recommendation for approval allowing the hours of operation to be 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
Monday through Friday and 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday as well as including the other
conditions as stated. Motion carried unanimously.
