, , ATTACIIENT "B"
 . •• ANNUAL BUDGET
FISCAL YEAR 00-01
Farm No. 3 Incremental Budget Request
Fund: GENERAL O1 Department: PUBLIC WORKS
Division: MSC/FORESTRY Division No.: 47181
X Request for New Work Program Request to Expand Present Work Program
Description and Justification
The resources requested herein would allow the mowing of the properties in the Near North area as well as high
grass/weed infractions on private property in a more timely and cost effective manner. Currently, Neighborhood
Standards is paying approximately$300,000 to$350,000 per year for these two operations. The Near North area
is being mowed only once per month. The requested resources will allow the Forestry Section to mow these
properties once every twa weeks, draznatically improving their appearance. The total second year costs for this
additional mowing by the Forestry Section is projected to be approximately$111,000.
The funds for the seasonal employees are for the mowing season only(May through October). Funding for the
full time Equipment Operator would allow this section to catch up on Forestry work in the winter due to the fact I
that not only would this new employee be mowing but also at least one other employee normally assigned to the
forestry crew would be used extensively in this additional mowing operarion. The new employee would also be
used in winter snow and ice control operations.
The full time position would be filled at a pay grade 14. The Capital Expense is for three '/4 ton pickups,a
tractor/mower,six(6) large walk behind mowers, and three(3)ailers to haul the lazge wallc behind mowers and
other small turf maintenance equipment.
Line Item Detail Information
Line Item Line Item Account Title Detail
Account No. Detail Descriprion Amount
47181-090 Salary(Equipment Operator) . 31,277
47181-101 Overtime . 500
47181-104 Retirement-Il1IRF 4,63
47181-111 LifeInsurance 42
47181-112 Medical Insurance 7,469
47181-113 Unemployement Compensation p
4'7181-114 Worlmian's Compensation 1,971
47181-214 Service to Maintain Other Equipment 1,500
47181-243 Motor Vehicle Expense 30,000
47181-271 Temporary Personnel Services 50,000
47181-340 Minor Equipment,Tools and Hardware 3,000
47181-423 General Liability Insurance 605
47181-499 Small Capital Items 37,500
_ 47181-520 Capital Expense(First Year Only) 150,000
Total 318,507
