McNabb,P.E.,Director of Public Works"
Stephen P. Swanson,P.E., City Engineer
SUBJECT: Decatur Industry& Technology Center
Building "A" Roof Repairs
The roof on Building "A" at the Decatur Industry and Technology Center (DITC) is in need of
repairs. The original "foam roof' and roof drains have developed leaks that must be repaired to
prevent damage to the interior of the building. Building "A" is the primary building at the DITC and
houses the DITC offices and several tenants.
The DITC through James Seaberg, DITC Assistant Manager, obtained four proposals for the
roof repairs. A copy of the proposal tabulation prepared by Mr. Seaberg is attached. The proposals '
were reviewed by a DITC oversight committee. The committee deternuned that the proposal '
received from Rowley & Associates, Inc. was the lowest responsive, responsible proposal for the I,
work. The DITC procurement process is summarized in a memorandum to the City Manager from
Donna D. Bland, DITC General Manager, dated October 20, 1997. A copy of this memorandum is
attached for your information. Staff has reviewed the proposals and agrees with the committee's
decision. The DITC has presented this to the City to make the award of the contract as the City is
the building owner and DITC is an occupant.
It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the
contract for the roof repairs to Building "A" at the Decatur Industry & Technology Center to
Rowley & Associates, Inc. as the lowest responsive, responsible proposer in the amount of$30,026
and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract.
A representative from the DITC and City staff will be available to answer questions that the
Council may have at the meeting.
' attach: 4
cc: Donna D.
