The chairman declared the motion carried. <br /> 50 <br /> 51 <br /> 52 Item#2 Request for stop signs at the intersection of Forest Avenue/Seigel Street <br /> 53 facing Forest Avenue. <br /> 54 <br /> 55 City staff received a complaint about the traffic control at the intersection of West Forest Avenue <br /> 56 and South Seigel Street. The intersection is currently served by two yield signs which both face <br /> 57 Forest Avenue. The complaint alleges that the yield signs are not heeded by all vehicles <br /> 58 resulting in near accidents. The request was for the yield signs to be changed to stop signs. <br /> 59 Upon reviewing the accident reports only one reported accident occurred within a three year time <br /> 60 period at this intersection. The accident occurred in February of 2015 and involved a vehicle <br /> 61 traveling northbound striking a vehicle traveling eastbound. It's unclear if stop signs would have <br /> 62 had an impact on the outcome of this accident. <br /> 63 <br /> 64 Even though accident data doesn't warrant a change on its own, this intersection is the only <br /> 65 intersection in the neighborhood which is yield sign controlled. There are several intersections <br /> 66 with stop sign control. For consistency, it may be beneficial to switch these yield signs to stop <br /> 67 signs. Consistency amongst traffic control devices may help motorists' understanding of how to <br /> 68 proceed through this intersection.
