2. Rides shall be scheduled a day in advance to assist in scheduling and dispatching.
To ride, all participants will call the Decatur Public Transit System (DPTS) the
day before they want to ride. The DPTS will contact the Contractor by 5:00 p.m.
on the same day, with the names and addresses, pick-up times and destinations of
those being transported the next day. The only exception will be Saturday
transportation. Since the Contractor's offices may be closed that day, the
Contractor must be contacted by 12:00 noon on Friday, if transportation is to be
provided on Saturday.
3. The Contractor shall collect a cash fare of seventy-five (75) cents from each
eligible rider and seventy-five (75) cents from each escort accompanying an
eligible Program participant. All riders will be expected to have exact change, as
the driver will not be permitted to carry money to make change. However, riders
. will be permitted to pay for both ways ($1.50) at once, when they first get on the
van if they so choose. This amount will be placed in a cash box and opened by the
staff at the City.transit system daily. The amount in the cash box will be compared
with the daily trip sheet showing ridership, destinations and time by the staff of
the City. Any discrepancy between the trip sheet and the cash box will be brought
to the attention of persons designated by each party as soon as possible, and
reconciliation will be made. The Contractor shall not be responsible for any daily
shortages of funds which are not directly caused by the intentional and fraudulent
act(s) of the Contractor's employee(s).
4. The Contractor shall provide rides only to those Program participants who are
listed on the Specialized Van Service trip sheet given to the Contractor's driver
each day by the DPTS dispatcher.
5.
