,
Description of Tasks
The scope of services for the Decatur Water Resources/Storage/Production Study includes five
major tasks as described below.
Task 1.0 - AnalXsis of Water Requirements
As the basis for the Water Resources/Production/Storage Study, Engineer will develop a
probable set of water requirements for Decatur within a range of likely maximum and minimum
requirements. The probable set of water requirement projects will be developed using historical
water use data (domestic and industrial) and local population projections provided by the Client,
and projected industrial water use data obtained through meetings with officials of two major
industries. Separate high growth and low growth projections will also be developed through
consideration of likely variations in factors such as industrial water use, population changes and
per capita water consumption. Draft projections will be developed and reviewed with Client
staff during the first three weeks of the project.
Separate estimates of potable water requirements and non-potable requirements (for industrial
i
cooling or other processes) will be prepared. These projections will provide a basis for
assessing the viability of potential water reuse and/or process water supply alternatives.
The analysis of Decatur's future water requirements will be documented in a technical
memorandum to the Client. This memo will form one chapter of the final project report.
Task 2.0 - Assessment of Water Supply and Production Needs
Under this task, Engineer will review the capacities of the existing water resource, storage and
production facilities in the Decatur system and compare these against the projections of future
water needs developed in Task 1.0. This comparison will serve as the basis for determining the
quantity and quality of additional water required to meet the Client's future needs under both
normal and drought conditions. Capacity parameters to be reviewed will include:
- Yield of Lake Decatur (average and firm)
- Capacity of Existing Well Field

HES SCOPE.WPF TJJhj-2
f1961149P/951103l9S1120
