' I`a'OF•DFC9 DECATUR, ILLINOIS
V A
 Lake Shore Driue Relocation Study
' «
'
 Traffic Generation
Because the actual future use of potential redevelopment land is unknown at this time,a maximum
case scenario was assumed for the purpose of trip generation estimates. The potential trip
generation estimates are developed on the assumption that some kind of mixed land use
redevelopment may occur in the future and could generate a comparable amount of traffic to the
assumptions set forth in this study. T'he background traffic growth on Lake Shore Drive apart from
new trip generation spurred by redevelopment was assumed to be no- grow. Extrapolation of
historical traffic counts on Lake Shore Drive served as the basis for the no-growth traffic assumption,
as depicted by Figure No.3-1. This background traffic reflects that there has been little impact from
City-wide growth on Lake Shore Drive traffic volumes.
' 25000 Historical Traffic Counts
 ,
20000 , `
d `` '

 15000 Traffic Projections
U

T Q
.

 5000
 0 M 117 1 07 C i lt7 1 61 f'i l!7
n n n n ao ao ao m m m m m
m m m m a m m m m m m m
 r r Year T
Figure 3-1 Background Traffic Growth for Lake Shore Drive

, Bucher, WillisRatliff-18
rvywmwm uroam cEroxT.wrs
