, <br /> b. the bottled water has been taken from an <br /> approved source as defined in 21 CFR 129. 3 (A) ; <br /> c. the bottled water company has conducted <br /> monitoring in accordance with 21 CFR <br /> 129.80 (g) (1) -(3) ; and <br /> d. the bottled water does not exceed any Maximum <br /> Contaminant Levels or quality limits as set <br /> out in 21 CFR 103 . 35, 110 and 129. <br /> The Agency shall consider and may agree to the <br /> establishment of alternate methods of �roviding nitrate <br /> free drinking water for the at-risk population. The <br /> method must safeguard the quality of the water provided <br /> and be readily available to the affected population <br /> group. <br /> 5. DECATUR shall notify the at-risk population at such time when <br /> a single weekly nitrate sample result equals or exceeds the <br /> triggering level of 8.5 mg/1 at either water treatment plant, <br /> by the following means: , <br /> a. One-time publication in a newspaper of general <br /> circulation in the area served by the public water <br /> supply; and <br /> b. Mail delivery or by hand delivery of a written <br /> notice to all hospitals, local physicians, <br /> other appropriate parties and to parents, <br /> guardians, custodians and providers on lists <br /> available to DECATUR. <br /> 6. DECATUR shall utilize the public notice procedures listed <br /> below to notify the public of nitrate levels in excess of 10 <br /> mg/1 and the availability of free drinking water as outlined <br /> in Section 3 of this Letter of Commitment. Public <br /> notification must be made to the following groups by the <br /> methods as follows: <br /> a. One-time publication in a newspaper of general <br /> circulation in the area served by the public <br /> water supply within fourteen (14) days of the <br /> date of the nitrate exceedance determination; <br /> b. Mail delivery or by hand delivery of a <br /> written notice to all customers of the public water <br /> supply within forty-five (45) days of the nitrate <br /> exceedance determination and once every three (3) months <br /> thereafter (a notice delivered with the water bill is <br /> acceptable) ; <br /> • 3 <br />� <br />
