c. Notification of new customers at the time of <br /> initial contact and then every three (3) months <br /> thereafter; and <br /> d. Notification of the radio and television <br /> stations serving the area served by the public <br /> water supply as soon as possible but in no <br /> case later than 72 hours of the nitrate <br /> exceedance determination. <br /> e. Notification of local physicians and other <br /> appropriate parties semi-annually by mail or hand <br /> delivery with the first notice being initiated <br /> within forty-five (45) days of the nitrate <br /> exceedance determination. <br /> f. Notification of the transient population of <br /> the existing situation by placing permanent <br /> postings in hotels/motels, restaurants, <br /> gasoline stations, parks and other locations <br /> served by your water supply within fourteen <br /> (14) days of the nitrate exceedance <br /> determination. <br /> 7. DECATUR shall notify Mount Zion as a water supply connected to <br /> DECATUR of Mount Zion's requirement to provide bottled water <br /> in accordance with paragraphs 3 and 4 of this Letter of <br /> Commitment. In addition, DECATUR shall notify the same <br /> connected supply of the notification requirements outlined in <br /> paragraphs 5 and 6 of this Letter of Commitment. DECATUR <br /> shall provide the Agency with documentation that this <br /> connected supply has been notified of its bottled water and <br /> notification requirements under the Safe Drinking Water Act, <br /> the Act and regulations promulgated under both. <br /> 8 . As part of its comprehensive plan to bring its system into <br /> compliance with the nitrate primary drinking water standard, <br /> DECATUR commits to conducting a two-year study of its <br /> watershed and thereafter implementing a watershed management <br /> program. <br /> a. DECATUR shall within the shortest time practicable but <br /> not later than four (4) months of the date of this Letter <br /> of Commitment, establish a monitoring network to collect <br /> samples from the "main tributaries" to the Sangamon River <br /> which are located upstream from Lake Decatur. The <br /> sampling will assist in determining the nitrate being <br /> contributed by those tributaries. This delineation may <br /> be used to speed the development of the comprehensive <br /> plan. DECATUR shall report its data to the Agency every <br /> six months. <br /> 4 <br />
