. , . <br /> t' <br /> -2- <br /> 2 . Construction Guidance - Furnish Guidance Services during <br /> the construction period generally comprised of the follow- <br /> ing: <br /> a. Consult with the CITY and with the Contractor on <br /> interpretation of plans and specifications and <br /> regarding any changes under consideration as <br /> construction proceeds. <br /> b. Provide periodical job-site inspection by the Project <br /> Engineer, or his representatives, during the construc- <br /> tion period. <br /> c. Prepare and submit all payment estimates, change <br /> orders, records, and reports required by the CITY. <br /> d. Safeguard the CITY against defects and deficiencies on <br /> the part of the contractor, but the ENGINEER does not <br /> guarantee the performance of the contract by the con- <br /> tractor. <br /> e. Conduct final inspection of construction and prepare <br /> final papers and reports. <br /> f. Revise contract drawings to show location and nature of <br /> improvement as actually constructed and supply one set <br /> of "as built" drawings to the CITY. <br /> g. Inspect the contractor' s operations to insure <br /> compliance with the plans and specifications and the <br /> keeping of complete project records. <br /> h. Check all shop and working drawings. <br /> i. Review and check all reports by testing laboratories on <br /> equipment and material tested. <br /> 3 . Resident Inspection - Provide detailed Resident Inspection <br /> Services, when so directed by the CITY, during construction <br /> of the proposed improvements, including but not limited to <br /> the following: <br /> a. Establish lines and grades and direct the layout of all <br /> work on the ground as construction proceeds. <br /> b. Provide continuous inspection of the work for <br /> compliance with plans and specifications. Such <br /> inspection shall include those services which as <br /> customarily referred to as detailed resident inspection <br /> services provided that the ENGINEER shall not be <br /> responsible for the acts or omissions of any <br /> contractor (s) , any subcontractor (s) , or any of the <br /> contractor (s) ' or <br />
