Dunn Company provided the lowest responsible bid at 16.91%below the
engineer's estimate. A major reason the bid came in low was that asphalt and concrete related items
came in at a lower price compared to last year, and the City relies on previous year prices and
market trends to estimate costs. Dunn Company has successfully completed many jobs of this type
for the City. Following approval of the Mayor and City Council, the bid tabulation will be
forwarded to the Illinois Department of Transportation for final approval in accordance with the
rules governing the disbursement of Motor Fuel Tax funds.
SCHEDULE:
Following approval of the contract by the City Council the contracts will be forwarded to the
Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) in Effingham for approval. Work on this project shall
begin after a"Notice to Proceed"has been issued from the City. The Street Restoration project is
scheduled to be complete by the end of October.
 3
