 'v
!.
EXISTINa OUTFALL REHABILITATION
Advantaqes:
(aj Reduced initial cost.
(b) No major interruption of traffic or destruction
of street surfacing.
Disadvanaqes:
(a) Continued operation of an 80+ year old facility,
rehabilitated but of irregular shape, size and
condition.
(b) Limited hydraulic capacity. Preliminary com-
putations indicate that the existing facility,
as rehabilitated, would serve the present tribu-
tary area with no apparent surcharge during a
5-year intensity storm. If the tributary area
is extended to 16th Street, as proposed in the
1966 Storm Sewer Report, the additional storm
water flow could surcharge the facility approxi-
mately 6 feet at Franklin Street, such surcharge
tapering off to a negligible amount at its point
of discharge and at the diversion structure at
Jackson Street.
(c) No major rehabilitation is proposed to eliminate
joint leakage (seepage) in the various sections
of 48" reinforced concrete pipe. Continued
monitoring of such sewer should be provided with
future repair, as warranted.
87023A B-16
25 of 29
