Obtain insurance quotations annually from commercial
providers to verify that the self-insurance reserve
contributions do not exceed the cost of commercially
procured insurance coverage.
11 . Provide all necessary personnel to perform the services
specified herein.
ESTABLISHMENT OF RESERVE FUND
The City of Decatur has established a separate reserve fund
for the self-insurance program for the transit system. An annual
contribution is made to the reserve fund. Such contribution
shall be less than what the cost of commercial coverage for the
self-insured risks would be. Therefore, the program
administrateor will be responsible for qbtaining annual commer-
cial insurance quotations for 10 million in PL/PD, $1 million in
comprehensive general liability, and fire, theft, vandalism and
collision coverage with $1,000 deductible. The program adminis-
trator will analyze the loss experience records of DPTS, the
exposure and risk potential and other factors and make a recom-
mendation to the City relative to the desired level of contribu-
tion to the self-insurance reserve fund.
RISKS TO BE SELF-INSURED
The self-insurance program will assume risks that were
previously covered by commercial insurance. Included are the
following:
A. $10,000,000 . Combined single limit, bodily injury and
property damage liability including uninsured motorists
protection, hired automobiles and non-owned automobile
coverage.
B. $1,000 deductible for fire, theft, combined additional
coverage, including vandalism and malicious mischief
and collision.
C. 1 ,000,000 comprehensive general liability.
