,
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM
No. 81-83
July 10 , 1981
MEMORANDUM TO: Leslie T. Allen, City Manager
FROM: Charles Cherches , Director
Department of Community Development
SUBJECT: Annexation of tract lying north of Maryland
Street and east of Decatur Air ort
A valid petition requesting annexation of this subject tract
of land has been filed with the City Clerk ' s office. Containing
a total of 120 acres, the tract is owned by the Decatur Park
District. There presently are three single family dwellings
and accessory farm building located on the south side of the
tract off Maryland Street; otherwise, it is vacant and used
as farm land.
In keeping with past policy of annexing Park District land to
the City, the Decatur Park District Board is requesting
annexation of the tract. While there are no immediate plans
for development of the tract, the Park District envisions it as
ultimately being used for airport expansion and related
industrial used in accordance with the airport master plan.
The tract is not presently served by City water or sanitary
sewer facilities , which are presently located approximately one
half mile to the west at Airport Road and Route 121 .
Staff recognizes the request as producing a logical extension
of the corporate limits; we recommend approval of the
petition as presented.
Jg
