City of Decatur Parking Structures B & C- Repairs 2017 Ca rt _—__— — <br /> Decatur, Illinois `Na�keir <br /> Revised August 22, 2016 <br /> We understand that the City of Decatur would like to move forward with implementing the repairs to <br /> begin in 2017, with a reduced scope of the previous scope of work where bids will be within the City's <br /> budget. <br /> The City is requesting engineering services to modify and update the repair documents used in the spring <br /> of 2016, to perform bidding assistance, and provide construction administration services. Repairs are <br /> intended to be bid as a single repair project for both garages and awarded to one contractor. <br /> PROJECT APPROACH <br /> Our recommended approach includes the following phases: <br /> 1.0 Construction Document Preparation <br /> A. To modify the 2016 Contract Drawings and Specifications to a 2017 bid set we will: <br /> 1. Meet with City of Decatur representatives to review the proposed repair scope and project <br /> objectives. <br /> 2. Review the parking garage scope of work and by a priority, reduce the scope to be more in line <br /> with probable bid values in 2017. <br /> 3. Prepare Final Design repair drawings, based upon the preliminary design documents and opinion <br /> of probable project costs as approved by the City.The drawings will include plans and details to <br /> show the character and extent of the project. <br /> 4. Prepare specifications to complete the work. The specifications will include a front end <br /> specification using the City's standard Capital Improvement Construction Contract and <br /> technical specifications which will include recommended materials, preparation requirements, <br /> and installation requirements. ' <br /> 5. Provide an updated opinion of probable repair costs based upon the final submitted design, if � <br /> required. <br /> 6. Provide final repair documents and specifications to the City in PDF format for your review and � <br /> comment. ' <br /> 7. Incorporate your comments into the final documents to be distributed to contractors in PDF ' <br /> format. �I <br /> 2.0 Bidding and Award <br /> A. The Bidding Phase will include the following services: <br /> 1. Assist in identifying qualified contractors. <br /> 2. Prepare invitations to bid and distribute bidding documents in electronic format. <br /> 3. Attend the pre-bid conference. <br /> 4.
