(a) a statement indicating the number of dependents to be
used in computing the amount required to be withheld from the
employee's paycheck under state and federal tax laws;
(b) a statement authorizing deductions and designating
beneficiaries for the appropriate state pension funds; and,
(c) a statement of information as required for coverage un-
der the City's employee performance bond.
4-2 . The employee may, at any time, make arrangements in writing
with the City Treasurer's Office regarding the following deduc-
tions as approved by the City Manager: employee insurance, credit
union shares, union dues, the United Way, the Police Benevolent
Association, and other similar purposes.
CHAPTER 5
SALARIES
5-1. Employees shall be paid weekly or biweekly, as the case may
be, according to a pay plan established and modified from time to
time by the City Council and upon approval of payrolls submitted
to the Council. Said pay plan shall assign a grade or range to
each position classification, and each employee shall be paid ac-
cording to the step in that grade or range said employee has
achieved, beginning with Step A at entry into grade unless other-
wise directed by the City Manager.
5-2 . Advancement from a lower step to a higher step shall be as
authorized and directed by the City Manager, but such advancement
shall not be made more than once in any 6 month period as to
Steps A to B and B to C and not more than once annually as to all
other steps.
5-3 . When an employee other than a Police or fire service
employee is temporarily assigned to generally perform the duties
of a position which is assigned a higher wage or salary in said
pay plan than the position regularly occupied by said employee,
such employee for the time he is so temporarily assigned shall be
paid the wage or salary of the position to which such employee is
temporarily assigned. This provision shall not apply to temporary
assignments of a duration of two duty days or less so long as
fourteen calendar days have lapsed since the last day said
employee was temporarily assigned to a position with higher wage
or salary than his regular position. Further, this provision
shall not apply if the duties so performed are in connection with
the training program such employee is engaged in.
5-4. If an employee in the fire service is temporarily assigned
to perform the duties of a classified position with a higher rate
of pay because a vacancy exists in said position, the employee
shall be paid the wage or salary assigned to that position. This
provision shall not apply to Lieutenants performing their duties
in the absence of a Captain.
