77-168 REGULATING THE INSTALLATION, ALTERATION AND USE OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AND ESTABLISHING AN ELECTRICAL INSPECTION DIVISION

- 4 - Section 14 . The rules, regulations, requirements, standards and provisions of the National Electrical Code, 1975 , being NFPA No. 70-1975; NASI C1-1975 are hereby adopted by reference as if fully set forth herein. Section 15. No person, firm or corporation shall install or alter electrical equipment or commence to install or alter such electrical equipment within the City of Decatur, Illinois , without first obtaining a permit to do the same issued by the Inspection Division, except that extension of a branch circuit in conformance with said National Electrical Code, the replacing of an electrical device or minor maintenance may be done without such permit. Section 16. Application for the required permit shall be made to the Inspection Division upon forms prescribed and furnished by said Division and shall be made by the owner or occupant or agent of either of the premises whereon the work is to be done or by the engineer, architect, or contractor connected with such proposed work, and which application shall , among other things which may be from time to time reasonably required by the Inspection Division, contain the name and address of the applicant and of the owner or occupant of the premises if other than the applicant; the address where the work is to be done ; the name and address of the contractor who will perform the work , and shall disclose in full the nature and the extent of the work to be done. Whenever it is reasonably necessary for a proper understanding of the work or to show the extent thereof and the compliance thereof with the I provisions of this ordinance, the Inspection Division may require that I detailed p'.ans and specification be submitted with said application ' and approved by said Division before the issuance of such permit. '�i Section 17. A copy of the required permit shall be posted upon the premises where the work is being done during the prosecution thereof and until the final approval of the work and such necessary or desirable decals , labels or similar items to be affixed to the approved work shall be furnished by the Inspection Division and shall be properly affixed by the contractor or by the Division, as the case may be. Section 18 . The Inspection Division may revoke a permit or withhold approval of work in case there has been a false statement or representation as to a material fact in the application, the plans or specifications upon which such approval or such permit was based. Any permit under which no work is commenced within 6 months shall automatically expire unless an extension thereof is given by the Inspection Division upon good cause shown.
