- 8 - <br /> newly installed service entrance conductors , whether installed <br /> during construction of a new structure or installed in an <br /> existing structure, shall be placed in approved rigid metal <br /> conduit. Except as provided in this section, approved non- <br /> metallic sheathed cable may be used in single family residence <br /> structures. The conductor must be protected by metal conduit <br /> as required by Art. 33. 6 (b) , Art. 347, Art. 348 and Art. 350 <br /> of the National Electrical Code. <br /> Section 25. Whenever a new service is installed whether <br /> the same replaces an old service or otherwise the same shall be <br /> equipped with a disconnecting device complying with the provisions <br /> of the National Electrical Code adopted hereby which device <br /> shall be placed in a readily accessible location and if the <br /> service is such that more than one said device is required they shall <br /> be placed next to each other. All disconnecting devices shall be <br /> clearly labeled as such and if there are multiple devices each <br /> shall be clearly labeled as one of the total number of such <br /> devices. Each electrical service shall be provided with over <br /> current protection by a device located immediately after the <br /> meter if the extent of the service conduit within the building <br /> exceeds ten feet. If the extent of the service conduit <br /> within the building is ten feet or less , the over current pro- <br /> tection device may be located in the branch circuit panel or adjacent <br /> thereto. Where multiple disconnecting devices are installed, the <br /> maximum over current protection of such devices shall not <br /> exceed the ampere rating of the service entrance conductors. <br /> Section 26 . An electrical service with a capacity of <br /> not less than 100 amperes shall be installed in all newly <br /> constructed residential , commercial or industrial structures <br /> or when any such structure is rewired or the electrical equipment <br /> therein is extensively altered, except that a service with a capacity <br /> less than 100 amperes but not less than 30 amperes may be installed <br /> for signs. Whenever a new service is installed for a residential <br /> structure , the same shall be a minimum of three wire 120/240 <br /> volts. The location of the service point shall be determined by <br /> agreement between the electrical contractor and the company <br /> supplying current. Not more than one major 220 volt appliance <br /> shall be connected to an existing 60 ampere service and a 100 ampere <br /> service or larger shall be installed if more than one major <br /> 220 volt appliance is to be connected therewith. <br /> Section 27. Service entries shall be grounded both to a <br /> driven ground and to the water supply of the structure . The <br /> neutral bar of the service disconnecting device shall be grounded <br /> to the water supply, using wire to pipe ground clamps and No. 4 <br /> copper wire either attached to the water supply pipe on the street <br />
