No sewer shall have <br /> a flow velocity of less than 2 .5 fee•� per second and none shall have <br /> a flow velocity exceeding I2 feet per second . Minimum and maximum grades <br /> are shown on the detailed plans . <br /> The pipes and fittings for the sanitary sewer system are to <br /> be first quality vitrified clay complying to the la.test standards of <br /> the American Society of Testiag Materials, Designation C-200 or C-278 : <br /> or the latest addition thereto. <br /> Vitrified clay sewers are to be laid on an even, firm bed <br /> throughout the full length of the barrel so �hat no unevea strain <br /> will come on any pipe, and particular care will be exercised to prevent <br /> the pipes bearing on the sockets or bells. Excavations shall be care- <br /> fully made to receive the bells . Each pipe is to be laid in conformity <br /> with the line and levels therefor, and in the presence of an inspector <br /> from the engineers . The socket end of all pipe is to be laid upgrade . <br /> The spigot end of the next pipe shall be inserted into the socket end <br /> of the lower pipe until the face of the spigot comes into contact with <br /> the shoulder of the pipe all aiound. This spigot end shall be <br /> supported with sufficient jointing material to make the flow lines of <br /> the two pipes coincide at the �oints . <br /> Tee-branches or wye-branches for house connectinns are to be <br /> vitrified clay pipe 4-inches in diameter, equal in quality and dimensions <br /> to that heretofore described . <br /> Tee-branches or wye-branches shall be closed by means of a <br /> disc or stop.per cemented in place, and shall be provided and set along <br /> the sewers, being located in front of abutting properties so as to serve <br /> such properfies with sewage facilities . <br /> City standard manholes are to be provided at the location and <br /> depths as shown in "Exhibit 2" as specified in "Exhib�t 3" . <br /> All roadways will be restored by thorough compaction of all <br /> trench material , grading of all depressions and bumps and the application <br /> and cover and seal cqFs as specified . This work shall be done <br /> under the supervision of the engineers . <br />
