Definition PARAGRAPH (2) - THE DETAILED DESCRIPTION of the various engineering <br /> of Services services to be performed shall be as follows: <br /> A. Preliminary Phase: <br /> The services contemplated under the preliminary phase are <br /> required to establish a firm basis for preparation of plans <br /> and will include as necessary: Conferences with the City, <br /> the authorized representative of the City or other govern- <br /> mental bodies responsible for the project; preliminary <br /> studies and cost estimates; surveys, examination and evalu- <br /> ation of existing faciliites; economic studies of construction <br /> system; report including preliminary layouts, sketches, pre- <br /> liminary cost estimates for project and alternates; supervision <br /> only of any required sub-surface explorations. <br /> B. Design Phase: <br /> Review of preliminary work and coordination of City' s require- <br /> ments with engineering aspects of the project; field surveys, <br /> measurements and examinations essential to proper design work, <br /> contract plans, specifications, and estimate of cost. <br /> C. Biddinq � Contractinq Phase: <br /> Preparation of bidding forms, performance bond and contract <br /> forms for approval by City's attorney; furnish City with ten <br /> (10) sets of plans and specifications; assist in the tabulation <br /> and evaluation of construction proposals; and advise concerning <br /> award of contract. <br /> D. Construction Phase: <br /> Review shop and working drawings furnished by Contractors and <br /> suppliers. Consult with contractors relative to interpretation <br /> of drawings and specifcations; require contractor to establish <br /> satisfactory construction schedules; provide line and grade <br /> staking; provide general guidance of construction at critical <br /> phases of work by instructions to the contractor and periodic <br /> review of job as it progresses; prepare supplementary drawings <br /> required during construction to illustrate details or indicate <br /> changes; issue change orders as necessary; check and certify <br /> estimates prepared by Contractor for partial payments, compute <br /> final installed quantities (for unit cost type construction <br /> contracts) and prepare extras and fina:l payment certificates; <br /> perform overall final review of project; prepare "As-built" <br /> drawings and provide City with reproducible linen of such <br /> "as-built" drawings , NOTE: If "as-built" drawings include <br /> extensive changes or new drawings, due to causes beyond the <br /> control or responsibility of the Engineer, then extra com- <br /> pensation shall be paid to the Engineer for such special <br /> services. <br /> -2- <br />
